Story

The members of Minehead Cycling Club are looking to support our colleague and great friend SCOTT HUISH, following a severe stroke which happened in February 2024. While his progress so far has been remarkable, and a testament to Scott's hardwork and determination, he still has a long way to go.
The next six months to a year are critical - and it will be more hard work! While the NHS have been fantastic there is only so much they can do and there is so much more that can be done. Specialist therapies and additional training support will enhance his ability to recover. There are also practical things that can make a difference, the conversion of a room to become a therapy space being one of them. The target sum will allow for the adaptation of the therapy area and additional physical and training support for the most critical time period ahead.
The club will be setting up a series of events to raise money for Scotts funding pot, so keep an eye out for updates and please take part or sponsor those who are in order to achieve the goal of supporting our friend through a difficult time. Keep an eye out for the Porlock Hill Climb Epilogue - free for anyone to take part in (donations accepted!!). The "500k in a Day" sponsorship event - can we make it cycling from the edge of the east coast back to Minehead in 24 hours (exactly 500 kilometers!), leaving at midnight and hoping to be back in Minehead before midnight the following day. There will be a lottery to predict how far we can get before midnight strikes the second time! There will be a series of events entitled "Ride with a Celebrity", keep an eye out for who will be involved - We've already sent emails out to Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard and will let you all know if they respond!! If you have any ideas for an event let us know and we will support you in your efforts to set it up.
That's it for now but keep yourself updated on where we go from here.
