Story
British Heart Foundation Heart Somerset is working in partnership with Minehead Firefighters on a new project to provide community access AED (automated external defibrillator) on the outside wall of Minehead Fire Station. and one located along Minehead Seafront.
Once it is installed, firefighters will be running free courses for members of the public to teach them how to perform CPR and use the defibrillator to save lives.
Without immediate defibrillation and CPR when cardiac arrest occurs, the chances of survival are less than 6-8%. When a defibrillator is used on a patient combined with effective CPR, the odds or survival can be increased to over 70%.
We aim to promote the placement of public access AED's, providing 24 hour access so that emergency life saving equipment is available to everyone, whenever it is needed.
It is only through the kind generosity of people like yourselves that we can continue to raise awareness and deliver free public CPR training. So any support you can give the firefighters from Minehead Fire Station with their fund raising endeavours will be much appreciated.
