MINI CHALLENGE LAUNCHES NEW CHARITY INITIATIVE
Organisers of the Quaife MINI CHALLENGE have announced a new initiative aiming to raise a five-figure sum for charity over the course of the next twelve months.
News of the plans came during the annual MINI CHALLENGE awards ceremony at Whittlebury Hall near Silverstone, where Sam Weller and Nelson King were officially crowned as champions of the 2022 JCW and Cooper classes respectively.
During the evening, MINI CHALLENGE promoter Antony Williams took to the stage to announce fundraising plans for next season, which will see him and the organising team seek to raise at least £10,000 for charity before the 2023 awards dinner.
In order to kick-start the fundraising efforts, Antony was joined on stage by Weller, fellow JCW front-runner Alex Denning and LDR Performance Tuning boss Lawrence Davey to perform some questionable dance moves, with donations of more than £1,300 being made on the evening - arguably to bring the dancing to a halt…
That included large donations from Corbeau Seats managing director Vic Lee, Hybrid Tune boss Stephen James and Rob Lockwood, father of JCW racer Jason.
With entries having now officially opened for the 2023 JCW season - and with Cooper entries to open in due course - drivers signing up will be invited to put forward a preferred charity of their choice.
Each driver registered for the season will then take part in a vote to determine which charity will benefit from the money raised.
