Ryan and I have been trying to have children for a while now. We've had a lot of tests and treatments but the closest we've got is seeing our 2 embryos almost make it.
Tests on Ryan have shown he's absolutely fine, so the problem lies with me. All my tests have shown that everything works I have polycystic ovaries. PCOS is when there are little cysts on the ovaries which interfere with hormone production. A result of this is that we don't know when or if I'm releasing any eggs at all. Other tests have shown that everything else is absolutely fine, including that I've got a lot of eggs ready and waiting to go.
This is where the surgery comes in.
There's a treatment called ovarian drilling which essentially lasers off the cysts on the ovaries, which then returns normal hormone function and hopefully releasing the eggs like a normal person.
This treatment is available on the NHS but the waiting list is long, and I'm not getting any younger. Fertility and egg quality drops at 35 and I'm nearly 34. This is why we're exploring the option of going via Bupa, who do a package deal of £3700 for the whole lot.
TL:DR - Ryan has super sperm, but my eggs are stuck in the ovaries. Lasers could work.
