Story
Problem:
=======
Cataract in both eyes. This may deny me a chance to serve or take part in challenging and extreme sporting events and other activites which I love and my outdoor lifestyle can be seriously limited
In addition I am an avid computer user. also provide IT services and solutions as a business. increasingly reading on computer screens particularly smart devices is challenging.
Driving is one of my passions and this may also be affected in bright sunshine or at night with a glare from on coming cars. It means I would need to wear glasses or contact lenses both of which have their own challenges like getting lost or forgotten, breaking or damage, replacement cost etc
NHS UK has a long waiting list and provides as standard the mono focal IOL replacement surgery
Solution:
=======
So from my research indicates Poland to be the best in Cataract surgery and Lithuania for LASIK/LASEK eyesight correction surgery. I would really like to go to Poland for the cataract surgery as soon as possible. Though my lifestyle and work is not currently impaired, I need to do this sooner than later.
Challenge:
========
I need to raise the funds to pay for flight, hotel accommodation, food, the actual surgery, pre-post surgery support. I plan for a 2 week stay first week for the ops and second week for post op follow up and support by the experts whilst in Poland
Desired Outcome:
==============
Enjoy outdoor, extreme and challenging sporting and related activities, drive day or night safely and joyfully, ditch the glasses and contact lenses, play with my children anywhere any time
I promised myself to do one extreme sporting event for charity, one particular event is running a 5K marathon for any charity dealing with brain atrophy or related conditions.
