The Miodzio Polish shop in Remembrance Road, Willenhall, Coventry, which opened a year ago was destroyed by a fire in the early hours of Friday 14th October. Police are treating the fire as arson. Nobody knows yet why this particular shop was targeted, but it seems likely the crime was racially motivated.
I've never met Norbert Krupa, the owner, I've never even been to Coventry, I just wanted to do something as a small gesture to show that some British people are ready to stand with him against this mindless thuggery.
He is insured and is determined to rebuild but that will take months and in the meantime he will have no income to pay his staff. I run a small business myself and I don't know how I would find the strength to deal with something like this.
