Haydos is an animal shelter in Ortaca Turkey run by an amazing inspirational person called Türkan Dağdalen . It is home to more than 600 dogs,200 cats and a handful of donkeys .It is a non-profit organisation relying totally on charitable donations .Alongside the general care of these animals Turkan and volunteers focus on spreading awareness and compassion for animals through educational projects with the aim of creating a better animal rights system throughout Turkey .Haydos also has a program in place for spaying and neutering helping make Turkey a happier and safer place for all the animals currently living on the streets with the aim to reduce the number of these animals and needless future suffering.
I am running a 5K colour run on the 22nd of July in Exeter and hoping to raise some much needed funds to convert an outbuilding for volunteers to stay in to help run this amazing place on a daily basis ,everyday brings a whole new set of challenges for the volunteers with never enough hours .The estimated cost to do this is £2500 , I am hoping this at least with be the start of it becoming a reality for the volunteers who give their time already to support this incredible place .
