I've raised £3000 to distribute 1,000 panic alarms, raise awareness of GBV, and build safer communities in the UK between February to May

On 11 Dec 2024, I received the prestigious Elizabeth Emblem at Windsor Castle in honour of my daughter, Rebecca Dykes — a UK government official tragically killed in Beirut in 2017 — my team and I have been deeply moved by the overwhelming support that followed. Since then, we have received over 300 inquiries from UK charities and individuals requesting Becky’s Buttons for vulnerable women and communities. This incredible response underscores the urgent need to act.
From February to March 2025, we will:
Distribute 1,000 personal safety alarms (Becky's Buttons) to women in need.
Conduct workshops on GBV to raise awareness and build safer communities. We are partnering with local charities and communities to reach:
- Homeless women
- Ethnic minority groups
- Survivors of domestic abuse
- Sex workers
- Women with dependency issues (e.g., drugs, alcohol)
Confirmed locations include Torbay, Loughborough and Glasgow, with more partnerships and regions being finalized.
Why We Need Your Support
Each Becky's Button costs £2.85 (including manufacturing and logistics costs). While we will distribute 1,000 buttons initially, the demand for these life-saving devices will undoubtedly exceed this supply.
Your donations will directly fund:
Manufacturing more buttons to meet growing demand
Covering logistics costs to ensure these devices reach the most vulnerable
Every donation, no matter the size, contributes to saving lives.
I will be appearing on TV interviews and at key events to raise awareness of gender-based violence.
In February, 1,000 Becky's Buttons will arrive in the UK to kick-start our distribution efforts.
