Story
I will be attempting the crazy challenge of hiking the National Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon). We will be ascending barefoot and descending with sandals.
In 24 hours. Barefoot!
This is going to be a huge test of physical and mental strength. I will be completing this challenge with my partner (who is also going to be barefoot) and a friend who is adament her shoes remain on.
The Three Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon) are the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. The challenge is to climb each of these three peaks – one after the other in 24hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft). The total driving distance is 462 miles which also needs to be covered in those 24hours. All this and barefoot.
There is evidence of a few men carrying out this challenge. I have yet to find any evidence of a female taking this challenge on, so I wish me luck.
I will be raising money to split between St Catherine of Siena Primary School and Winston’s Wish Charity.
Winston’s Wish help children and young people rebuild their lives after the death of their mum, dad or sibling. The support enables them to face the future with confidence and hope.
