Story

Top level sport on the international stage is unbelievably tough. To reach this peak is a lifetimes commitment to training, marginal gains and an ever burning desire to win. In Tennis the wealthy are given a huge set up and we have the opportunity to level that playing field for Joshua. By donating to this cause you’ll be supporting an emerging British talent, enabling him to realise his potential on the world stage!

Joshua is 18 years old from Ilkeston, Derbyshire and has been playing Wheelchair Tennis since he was 11 years old. In 2023 Joshua had an incredible year, winning the Junior World Team Cup and also the Junior US Open doubles in New York. He reached a career high of World No.2, and also broke the top 100 Men’s World rankings, ending the season at No.70!

My challenge is to finish the 2024 triple Swimathon, completing 3 x 5km swims on consecutive days in April. This is 200 lengths of a 25meter pool per day and will take roughly 90mins of continuous swimming on during each session. The task has been made more difficult having some of my own challenges in the build-up, I’ve only had 10 weeks to prepare for the event, but with so much a stake I’m well on the way to delivering for Josh!

Now it’s your turn, all we can ask is that you donate as generously as you can.

Despite all his success, he does not receive programme funding from the LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) since leaving the Junior age category. Tennis is an incredibly expensive pursuit, and Joshua’s 2023 season cost 18.5k. A mind blowing amount, but with 14+ hours of training per week, court fees, equipment maintenance, and 80% of wheelchair tournaments being outside of the UK, the costs soon mount up. As Josh tries to climb further up the world rankings, these costs are only likely to increase further, it is estimated that a budget of 20k is required for 2024, and this will have to be found through commercial backing, charity grants, family, and fund raising events.

Together we can make the difference.

Thank You

Mitch
