Back in August of 2016 a family member of ours was unfortunately diagnosed with Leukemia. What made this even more distressing is that she found out via a routine blood test while she was 28 weeks pregnant. They managed to deliver the baby early between her first and second rounds of chemotherapy and thankfully she gave birthday to a beautiful healthy baby boy. In the weeks after she received 4 rounds of intense chemotherapy, some stays in hospital lasting up to 6 weeks.
The ward tasked with taking care of Amie was the B4 Haematology ward at the university of Wales in cardiff. A ward that specialises in blood cancer treatment. Amie wants us to stress how much of an amazing job the staff do. They took exceptional care of her and made her horrific time slightly less stressful. When speaking to Amie about raising money, she selflessly asked that all proceeds go to the ward. As fantastic as the staff were she said the ward much needed some renovations. There are no TVs there, it was freezing on times and could do with a general upgrade.
This ward takes care of some of the sickest people in the country. People being treated there are fighting the toughest fight of their lives. If we can brighten up the ward in anyway possible and make the patients time there a little less daunting and scary that would be incredible
