Story

As many of you may or may not have seen on my previous trips we smashed both our targets and have raised over £8000 + in donations, we made a huge difference to families, widows and children living in the city of Adana and living on the Syrian border town Reyhanli. (Previous fundraisers: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/billalm, https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/billalmalik)

You can see pictures from our previous trips here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B3QTTpbLrU0xenlHZlBOaGwweVk

Many believe that the war in Syria is over, but this is far from true and with the continuous waring of internal and external forces within Syria those who suffer the most from the fall out are children and families. With ISIS now pretty much out of the picture, the government and rebels continue with fierce battles in the remaining rebel strongholds, government forces have surrounded these strongholds and launched lengthy bombardment campaigns in Eastern Daraa, Ghouta, Tafa, Latakia and Idlib.

You can see a live map here of the current situation in Syria; http://syria.liveuamap.com/

For those whose areas have now come to some form of 'peace' many have nothing to return too, some have returned but others especially widowed and orphaned children it is very difficult or near impossible for them to return, living in refugee camps and many different countries the conditions for them are still very dire almost 8 years in to this abhorrent war

This time our goal is to go back and provide more long term aid to create sustainability for these families, so we can get them off this destructive and never ending cycle of 'short term aid'. This will include providing material resources such as sowing machines and other such related items to create employment, financial stability and the chance to rebuild their lives.

This, my third trip will have a real emphasis on sustainability, I would like to buy a minimum of 4 or 5 sewing machines, we have a refugee lady who turned 1 sewing machine into 3 and is now teaching others and we want to expand this into a major project! From this we can get them off this destructive and never ending cycle of 'short term aid'. This will include providing material resources such as sowing machines and other such related items to create employment, financial stability and the chance to rebuild their lives.

Started with one, now she's at 3 and all together we are at 5!

Secondly, we want to get more children and families, including orphans out of tents and run down sheds and into proper housing.

Poor living conditions:

Thirdly, we want to get more kids, under the age of 16 out of work and back into education so they can create a real future for themselves and their families, education also helps with physiological trauma which so many young refugees from this conflict are battling.

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" - Nelson Mandela

Finally, there will be a resources dedicated to short term aid such as financial donations, toys, food and clothing aid. We also have the facilities to be provided aid relief (food and finance directly into Aleppo and refugee camps) Now with a better personal scope of the situation I believe I am far more experienced to make these decisions. Such donations will also include paying salaries for Syrian teachers who have not been paid in over 6 months at orphanages which sit on the Turkey/Syria border. Also just spending time with the children and bringing a smile to their faces is PRICELESS

Bringing food by the truck load to help the rehabilitation centre and children's centres get by:

There is also a temporary rehabilitation/medical centre that we would like to invest some money into and get it built up so it is fit for cause, treating young men and women with severe injuries due to war, torture and related injuries.

How far we have come with the Rehabilitation Centre:

Turning Industrial Containers into homes:

One big thing I have realised and want to pass on to you all is how useless large charities can be, the situation in these towns is dire, dark and sub-human. There is a non-existent presence of large charities including the UN. Going forward myself and friends will be focused on smaller charities who are on the ground and make a real life changing impact.

Let's show them that it's not just some charities and a handful of people who care but there are many of us that do, with big hearts, open arms and generous pockets.

It was not long ago that I asked for you guys to give and now I am here asking again, many of us are not rich, but every penny makes a real difference. Previously £4,000 was raised by 75 people that makes an average of £53 per person, in reality its not a long, but at the same time that £53.00 makes such a difference it is truly unbelievable. Share this with your friends and family and lets smash this and do some real good again!

I am heading out September, any questions please contact me :)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
