Story

Our tennis court was built in 1905 by renowned tennis court builder Joseph Bickley with his patented floor and wall surface coverings that provide a fast and true playing surface.

After 115 years of play the floor is beginning to show signs of wear and tear and the occasional uneven bounce. So we have been on a journey to discover what makes a Bickley floor the ideal tennis playing surface. Our experiments and analysis have led us to a concrete mix that matches the Bickley floor in both play and colour.

We are now ready to replace our floor so that we can continue to play Shakespeare's tennis in Shakespeare country and to serve our local community.

We need to raise £100,000 to complete the works. This is being met by club funds, grants from national and local bodies, club members' contributions, sponsorship and special events. We would also like to raise some funds from public donations.

Thanks for helping to restore the floor!
