Story
Would you like to make a BIG difference to a local charity and help maintain after school activities which are so important to the lives of children with Autism and other additional learning needs?
Then why not support our 12-hour Football Marathon in aid of Alderman Knight School. From 8am to 8pm on Saturday 18th August 2018, 30 plus volunteers of all ages, sizes and abilities will unite to play 6-a-side football around the clock. We have one GOAL in this act of sheer endurance, resilience and courage and that is to raise £2,000 for a cause which is close to our hearts.
Alderman Knight is a successful and well-established special school in Tewkesbury for children aged 4 to 19 with moderate and additional learning difficulties, complex needs and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The school provides an enriched and extended curriculum that enables pupils to develop positive feelings of self-worth and confidence and to be active and responsible citizens.
For the last 15 years, Alderman Knight has funded an after-school club where children can take part in extra-curricular activities such as arts and crafts, drama, music, computer games, films or simply play and socialise with friends. The club is popular with pupils many of whom struggle to access similar activities in the wider community. Parents and carers with children at Alderman Knight also value highly the precious social opportunity this club provides for their children.
This club makes a real difference to children who, without it, often cannot access similar activities. To keep it running the School needs to raise additional funds for the 2018-2019 academic year. It costs £10,000 to run the club for a whole school year and £3000 would keep the club open until Christmas 2018.
Please support our worthy cause by cheering us on at the 3G pitches on Metchley Park Road, and/or by donating. With your help we can keep these after school activities running which are so fundamental.
