Mo Ali suffered an ACL injury while playing for Warrington Town in a Northern Premier League game against Buxton in September.

Mo, 27, joined the Yellows in the summer having previously played for Southport, Curzon Ashton and Mossley, amongst others.

He has also represented the Somalia national team on eight occasions, captaining them in their first ever FIFA World Cup qualification victory against Zimbabe back in 2019.

The defender made an immediate impact and soon became a fans’ favourite contender with his performances at centre back, helping the Yellows to three clean sheets in four appearances.

But he unfortunately suffered a serious knee injury during the 2-2 draw at home to Buxton in September.

The cost of the required surgery is a five-figure sum, and so Mo must currently wait for availability within the NHS.

However, more pressing than that, is the impact that the injury and the required surgery will have on Mo’s livelihood.


As a self-employed driving instructor, clearly during his recovery period following surgery he will not be able to make a living.

So we are setting up this crowdfunder to help raise funds to support Mo during this time.

It is also a reminder of the sacrifices that semi-professional footballers sometimes have to make to further their career, and the impact that their commitments as players can have on their lives when things like injuries occur.
