Story
Hello, my name is Katie and I'm writing to kindly ask for your help. This is actually quite difficult for me to write but I am setting up this page to ask for help for my dad. His name is Michael and he is 54 and i love him so much.
He has been poorly with cancer for a number of years and a few years ago he also suffered from a subarachnoid (nasty, at the back of his head/top of his spine) brain haemorrhage. To cut a long and distressing story short, because it's still too painful for me to write, he now has mobility problems.
I have 4 sisters, all younger than me (I'm 29 and my youngest sister is 13). We have been trying now for a number of months, heading towards a year in fact, to save up to buy him a mobility scooter. We have been selling things we have on Gumtree or making things and doing favours for donations but it's slow progress...and we are running out of things to sell! We'd love to buy him a scooter and it would mean the world to him, to my mum, and to us as a family. My dad is the kindest, funniest and most generous man you would ever wish to meet and, to him, everyone else always comes first. My sisters and I would love for him to be able to go to the supermarket or to be able to have a ride around the village to get fresh air and meet people again. Basically, we'd all love for him to be independent as much as possible again. At the moment, my mum got a night-shift job at Wilko to support them both, and my little sister, and looks after my dad during the day time. But my lovely mum, Sue, , is only tiny and he can't manage to push him in a wheelchair so they generally go out on a weekend when one of us girls is around to help too or my dad currently uses a rather unsuitable collapsible frame (as seen in his picture).
My sisters and I wondered if anyone would be able to help by put any amount, however small, towards our dream of buying him a mobility scooter, please? Thank you,
All my love,
Katie

8 years agoHello, I just wanted to post an update to say thank you, thank you to everyone. My sisters and I have been completely and utterly overwhelmed by the reaction, kindness and generosity show and given to not only my dad, but towards us all. We are nearly 70% there and we are so grateful. Words can barely express our love and gratitude towards everyone who has and is helping us to fundraise so far x Thank you so much, your support is most utterly appreciated, Katie and the girls xx
