Story
The Moggery is a one-of-a-kind cat shelter & rehoming centre based in Bishopston, Bristol. Opened in 1997 by Christine Bayka, the charity is run out of Christine's former home and is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers. Christine and her dedicated team work tirelessly to rehome approximately 250 cats per year, and also provide neutering services within the community.
The Moggery never refuses to take a cat (including strays and ferrals), and as a result often takes in little ones with health issues - like Bagpuss and Yaffle.
I've volunteered with the Moggery for 3 years and began fostering kittens last year. Bagpuss and Yaffle are two of three kittens from lovely mum Jenny, and were rescued from a doorstep in Cotham where they were born.
Unfortunately at 6 weeks old whilst weaning, Bagpuss and Yaffle contracted what we believe is an infection, which has caused severe dehydration, vomiting and a trip to the vets on fluids (yes they can put a drip in these tiny little chaps).
They are very much now on the up (and a big thanks to Rowe vets for their support and care) but the Moggery was left with almost £1000 vet bill, on top of the average £2000/ month vet bills for maintenance and neutering of cats at the Moggery.
Any donations received will go directly to the Moggery towards vet bills, and also to obtain food for all of their cats and kitties. They aren't registered on many charity fundraising sites, so I thought the best way was to set up a crowdfunding page and then give them a cheque.
Any donation, however big or small would be greatly appreciated!
