Story
Aim
To create a holistic wellbeing hub in Matlock High Street that supports physical, emotional, and spiritual health through therapy, workshops, and community connection.
We are Azim and Sam, founders of Moksha Holistic Therapies CIC, a social enterprise dedicated to creating inclusive, transformative spaces for holistic wellbeing.
Our journey is rooted in lived experience. We have both navigated mental health challenges, grief, and the healing power of connection, nature, and ceremony. These experiences inspired us to create a space where others can heal, grow, and thrive on every level — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Over the past year, we have already seen the impact of this work through initiatives including:
- The Healing in Nature project (National Lottery-funded)
- Monthly community ceremonies
- Men’s and women’s circles
- Regular drumming circles
- Community meet-ups and informal gatherings
- Wellbeing events in partnership with Mind
- Community sharing circles and themed wellbeing groups
- Subsidised and fully funded 1:1 holistic treatments (massage, coaching, Reiki, energy therapy, trauma release work)
These initiatives have supported approximately 120 individuals in 2025, with participants reporting reduced isolation, improved wellbeing, and stronger community connection.
Our Vision
We are now ready to expand this work into a physical hub on Matlock High Street, with plans to take possession of the premises in early July, subject to final completion.
Due to unexpected and significant solicitor fees linked to securing the incoming tenancy, we are seeking support to help us move forward and bring this long-held vision into reality.
The hub will bring together a diverse range of offerings, including:
- A high street treatment room for holistic therapies
- A cacao, fresh juice, and coffee bar serving functional mushroom coffee and smoothies
- A wellbeing bookshop and library space for reflection, learning, and community reading groups
- Holistic education courses (including herbal medicine, aromatherapy, and functional mushroom workshops)
- A wellbeing café and social space
- A lounge-style community space
- Workshops, circles, and ceremonies supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, including drumming circles, men’s and women’s circles, community meet-ups, and facilitated sharing circles
- Ongoing subsidised and fully funded holistic treatments
- Retail of incense, resins, and medicinal herbs
- An art and creative studio space
- Local artisan collaborations through workshops and pop-up events
- Flexible space hire for therapists, practitioners, and community groups, creating a sustainable income stream and widening access to wellbeing services
This hub will support 450+ people in its first year, providing accessible and inclusive support for individuals experiencing social isolation, mental health challenges, bereavement, or disadvantage.
How the funds will be used
We are aiming to raise £5,000, which will directly support:
- Securing and running the premises (rent and utilities)
- Refurbishment and setup (furniture, treatment rooms, café/bar equipment, IT, signage)
- Initial stock (cacao, coffee, herbs, incense, resins)
- Staff and facilitator costs (including founders and sessional practitioners)
- Delivery of workshops, circles, ceremonies, and community events
- Marketing and outreach to build awareness and engagement
Every pound raised will directly contribute to establishing and sustaining the hub, helping it become a self-sustaining centre for holistic wellbeing in Matlock.
Impact
With your support, we can create a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered.
This will be a vibrant, daily-use community hub offering accessible pathways to healing and connection. Practitioners will also run their own sessions within the space, creating a diverse and self-sustaining ecosystem of wellbeing.
From cacao ceremonies and drumming circles to yoga, creative workshops, wellness talks, and support groups, the hub will offer something for everyone, nurturing physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing while strengthening community connection.
Together, we can bring this vision to life in the heart of Matlock.
