Hi!

I am currently a Student Nurse and in July 2020 I get the opportunity to undertake an elective placement.. Rather than staying here in the UK, I have chosen to go outside of my comfort zone and go to a city called Iloilo in the Philippines, where hospitals are drastically underfunded and understaffed. Patients are left waiting in corridors for hours upon end and have to bring their own supplies such as gloves and dressings in order to be treated.

This is a massive difference compared to things here in the UK, and going out to Iloilo would mean that I can make a difference to people much less fortunate than ourselves, and also gain a better understanding of the different healthcare systems around the world at the same time.

I will be out there for 4 weeks, working shifts in a hot, humid and overcrowded hospital with no air conditioning, so this will be a huge challenge for me, but one that I am excited to undertake as I know I will learn so many valuable skills and life lessons, as well as making a difference.

Any donations would be massively appreciated, and if anyone has any ideas on how to fund raise, or any jobs they need doing (babysitting etc) please, please, please get in touch!
