In July, 2018, I shall be off to Heathrow to catch an aeroplane all the way to the continent of Africa. We travel around 4 different countries whilst In Africa which include Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Whilst away, we will spend 29 nights out in the lurch with nothing but a tent and a very small rucksack filled with essentials such as water and first aid.

The trip will be an incredible opportunity to allow a group of teenagers aged 17-18, including myself, experience a new way of life -one that is completely different to ours. We will face massive challenges such as cycling the Skeleton Coast for 6 days, canoeing miles downstream, teaching younger children and even building a new school for the locals. However, there will also be challenges that will be really difficult for our generation to hack: no technology or social media, no contact with friends or family, no showers, no toilet, no available electricity to use for beauty appliances such as hair dryers etc, we really are going out there empty handed.

In my opinion, the best part of the trip will be helping the local community. Building a school, something we all take for granted here in the UK massively, for the locals will be incredible. Education is a huge part of life and being able to help those who are less fortunate than us will be amazing. We are all equals, no one is inferior or more significant, all we need to do is work as a team.

The grand total of the trip is an astonishing £4000 and I'm very determined to reach my goal and make it there in 2018. I will be doing other fundraisers too such as car washing, dog walking, raffles, making seasonal gifts, car boots etc so do not hesitate to get in contact with any more ways the team and I could raise money.
