I've raised £3500 to raise money to fund my overseas volunteering in Nepal. This money goes towards the charity Raleigh International.

My name is Molly Carpenter and I am in my final year of school. Next year I am taking a year out and trying to make the most out of it. I have been accepted to do an overseas voluntary placement with Raleigh International, which is a charity organisation with an aim to help underdeveloped countries.
The country I have chosen to volunteer at is Nepal. Nepal is among the poorest countries in the world and the second poorest country in Asia, with 23.8% of its people living below the poverty line. On April 25th 2015, Nepal experienced a devastating earthquake in which over 8,000 people lost their lives. More than 22,000 people were injured and over 800,000 houses were destroyed. Due to the country's high levels of inequality and poverty it was poor and rural communities that suffered the most. They lost the ability to provide for themselves even the most basic needs of food, water and shelter. Raleigh's focus is to strengthen the resilience of these communities for some of the challenges that lie ahead. Nepal is one of Raleigh's most recent projects and I would love to help make a difference, I will support young people and women like me to drive change in their communities.
As part of the involvement in this programme I have an aim to raise at least £3500. This money goes towards the charity to fund materials for any building project and resources needed to educate those less fortunate, none of the money will go towards personal use like flights or my equipment. I have a number of activities set up to raise this money including a charity ceilidh, cake stalls and a sponsored hike called the three peaks challenge, to name just a few. I have set up this page for those who can't make these events, as I know it'll be difficult for some.
Any donations are greatly appreciated.
Molly.
