In July 2019 I embark on a new adventure. Volunteering in Figi on a one month community development expedition with GVI.

After the Category 5 Cyclone Winston hit many Figian islands in 2016, many people were killed and over 50,000 people were left homeless. As well as this, over 100 schools were either destroyed, damaged or turned into centres of other means ( e.g evacuation buildings), therefore weakening the education system further. The area was and still is struggling, lacking many basic needs required for a happy and healthy lifestyle. I aim to help restore this community to a more sustainable and loving environment. To do this I am supporting GVI in following 5 goals: No poverty, clean water and sanitation, gender equality, quality education, responsible consumption/production.

The project takes place in a small Figian village called Silana. I will be undertaking a range of tasks from teaching children, installing water systems, developing waste management techniques, improving general infrastructure and so on. All of the activities are vital to enhance the area and better the livelihoods of all of the residents and their children.

After volunteering on an Under 18 project in Thailand in 2018, I am inspired to continue aiding the progression of developing countries and improving the lives of as many people as possible.

Please help me to raise money for this incredible cause and help GVI to further succeed in implementing their goals for sustainability. Donations may also go towards buying school equipment, toys, mosquito nets etc for the children.

I thank everyone in advance for any contributions made!
