Story

My 54 year old auntie Linda was diagnosed with a 4cm, stage 4, aggressive malignant brain tumour in late January 2017. In February she had surgery to remove as much as the tumour as possible, they were successful in removing 98% of the tumour however because of how aggressive it is, it was likely to grow back. Her treatment continued with chemotherapy and radiotherapy and then more chemotherapy. From where the tumour was on the brain, it was pushing on nerve endings causing seizures and loss of movement on her left side, this has left her partially paralysed.

On the 25th of July we received the devastating news that the tumour has already grown back, just as aggressively. The doctors immediately stopped all the treatment she was receiving concluding that their treatment had been unsuccessful and handed her future care to hospice staff with no guidance or support.

My family are the most supportive and admirable bunch of people you'd ever meet. With my grandpa surviving (in remission) Oesophagus cancer 2 years ago (using standard therapies) and my dad surviving a stroke last year, I know we are strong enough to come together and help her beat this. She is a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and we cannot possibly entertain the idea of losing her.

We are trying all sorts of alternative therapies in an attempt to save and prolong her life. There are doctors in both India and Texas who think they can help, however potentially flying her out to either country will cost a lot of money as well as the other alternative treatments we are hoping to try.

The first alternative therapy we are looking into is the use of Ganoderma products derived from a mushroom which has been used in Asian medicine for centuries and which has reportedly achieved much success in cancer treatments. However the capsules are expensive and cost around £1,000 per month.

The second treatment is called Ruta 6. Ruta 6 is an Indian homeopathic protocol which is claimed to "selectively induces cell death in brain cancer cells." This treatment comes from a plant, 'Rue' which was used to fight off the plague in the middle ages. Please see the article below which proves that this treatment has worked for people in a very similar situation. We are still waiting for the cost of this treatment.

The third possible treatment has been developed by Polish Doctor Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, who currently works in the US. Dr. Burzynski has been performing controversial research into the treatment of cancer for over 40 years and has achieved some remarkable successful results. He has pioneered a treatment involving antineoplastons, gene therapy and immunotherapy and previously approximately 80% of patients with the same form of cancer (that my auntie has) exposed to this treatment have seen their active tumour shrunk until it is invisible to MRI in a matter of months allowing them to return to a normal life. This is the most costly treatment as it does involve staying in Texas for at least one month but astonishing results have been achieved. Please follow this link and watch the 30 minute video that Pete Cohen made whilst his partner Hannah was being treated by Dr Burzynski in 2011/12 - it is amazing!!

The £5,000 we are hoping to raise will help cover 5 months of one treatment. Whilst all of the family are helping to fund the treatment needed, we wouldn't want the cost of the medication to be the reason that the cancer wins this fight.

All donations would go directly to the treatments mentioned above. Every penny would be incredibly helpful in her battle against this awful disease.

Thank you x
