During October half term, I am lucky enough to be going to South Africa for ten days. Whilst I am there I am going to work at Sparrow School. Sparrow School is a school for children who can't go into mainstream education due to their having learning disabilities. These learning disabilities can be for a variety of reasons, but mainly from abuse and neglect. Sparrow School is great as it provides a caring and neutral environment which relieves the children from the desperate poverty from which they come. I am hoping to raise £200 to donate to the school, as it mainly runs off donations.
On Sunday the 3rd of September a couple of friends and I set off to walk 10 miles of the Ridgeway. As we had all done D of E we thought it wouldn't be nearly that bad... We were so wrong! Nevertheless we ditched the map and decided to just guess the route - not one of our brightest ideas! Luckily with the help of some walkers and farmers we made it to our 10 mile point and at this point all we could think about was our hot baths waiting for us at home, although we did get some funny looks from people at the train stations en route home, as we really did look like drowned rats!

Before we ditched the map, and used our navigational skills (which were almost as hopeless)
