Story
A Road to Clarity
The UK based Dutch visual artist Molly van der Weij FRSA has produced an extensive body of work over a long professional career in visual communication and design research. Alongside her applied work (illustration, digital visual productions, futures studies) she has always continued to make more autonomous work in drawing and painting. At this exhibition Molly will show a selection of her paintings for the first time. Together these paintings tell her personal journey towards an understanding of life's bigger questions, such as 'what is reality?' or 'how do things come into being?'. She uses the canvas as the space for learning and understanding of significant meanings in life; a visual exploration that starts with having a feeling about or connection with a word or concept rather than with a preconceived idea. The paintings are about uncovering something reliable in the experience of life: a truth that speaks, inspires and protects. This truth resonated strongly with the dharma, or the Buddha's teachings, which she receives and practises since 2007 as student of the buddhist teacher Lama Jampa Thaye.
The invitation to show her work at the buddhist centre Dechen in London is a wonderful opportunity to share these paintings with a wider audience interested in art, beauty and the more profound experiences and meaning of life.
All paintings are acrylics on canvas and will be for sale and available as high quality Fine Art Giclee prints (by order - limited edition, signed by artist).
Donations will go towards making this exhibition possible by helping to fund printing and framing costs (ca. £1,000 for framing and £500 for printing artwork and catalogue). The exhibition will run from 29 September - 11 November 2018. All donations are welcome and very much appreciated!
All donors will receive a Fine Art postcard print and all donations over £20 an exhibition catalogue.

1 year agoDear supporters and donors, Time flies and the opening date for the exhibition is approaching fast... Because of health issues, and work & study pressures, we (the Dechen London team and me) have decided to postpone the exhibition to September 2018. I do hope you all understand. Your donations are safe and allocated to the making of A Road to Clarity :-) I will keep you via this page and other social media platforms updated on new dates and other news! Watch this space! With lots of love, Mollyx
