    Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Crowdfunding Page!

In September 2016 I will volunteer for three months on a development programme in Ghana. This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people from the U.K and the host country together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is most needed. I'll be working alongside volunteers from Ghana on a project run by the International Service (IS) alongside Ghanaian support groups that seek to establish equality through providing opportunities which empower marginalised parts of society. IS' main projects focus on improving opportunities and empowering women, disabled people, young people and those living with HIV and AIDS. Much of this work is practical as well as focused on improving people's access and understanding of their personal human rights. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development and I will be continuing my work on my return to the UK.

I need to raise £800 to support my Ghanaian counter-part whom I will be living with during my twelve weeks as he/she will not be asked to fundraise. The money raised will also go towards supporting the work of International Service and their ICS partner organisations, enabling ICS to continue sending volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities. Any contribution will be gratefully received and will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries and will help us go forward in implementing actions towards global equality.

    Thanks, Molly

Project details are in!!.. Less than a month to go now, until I'm heading to Savelugu, Northern Ghana to work on a project called NFED. The project aims to improve literacy in adults and to help disadvantaged groups learn business and income-generating skills. I'll post a link to the blog that current NFED volunteers have been writing, so you can have a nosy at the kind of things I'll be getting up to! We've got a fundraising event in the pipeline as well, so keep an eye out for further updates. is-nfed.blogspo
