Story
Bohunt school is sending an expedition of students to Mongolia to work on projects to benefit local children, and to learn about their lives. Students will also be exploring the wilderness and traditional culture, having the opportunity to live with local nomad communities.
My daughter Rose has been selected to go on this expedition as part of a school team, she wants to make a difference for the better. She is extremely excited as this is such an amazing opportunity for her to work with local children, as part of a team based in the extreme wilderness. She is fascinated to find out about the culture, land and traditions, and plans to learn basic Mongolian to help her learn more about the people there and be a useful member of her team.
Rose plans to take many photos, focusing on the wildlife, scenery and local lives to recreate these images with art, to show and exhibit back in the UK. She hopes to be able to learn about Mongolian culture and to share their stories.
The expedition is planned for July 2017, she started her training in Spring 2016. Rose is creating a blog for each phase of the fundraising and training and will also document the expedition itself. www.rosecaitlen.co.uk
She will create a final presentation with photos, artwork and diary entries during August 2017.
She needed to raise £3500 to pay for the expedition training, travel, food, fuel, equipment, communications, insurance and health and safety costs. She has already raised £2000.00 in 8 months, with thanks to all her generous supporters and has £1500.00 still to raise.

8 years agoThank you all so very much for supporting my fundraising towards Mongolia. I am getting close to my target now, and appreciate all your generosity. I had the coldest/wettest training weekend in the Lake District in November, canoeing in hail, climbing and wild camping in the snow, and was told we can't now hike across Mongolia because of danger from the bears and the wolves! We will now go in horseback which is safer apparantly, so I've got to learn to riding next..I will update my blog over the Christmas holidays. Thank you all again, Rose

8 years agoThank you so very much for your donation Janey, Rose was fighting fit even by the last day, back pack on and doing star jumps on top of the Downs no less, unlike her slightly less fit mother....
