Story

Leah's Journey to independence is one of resilience and determination. Cerebral palsy may be a part of her journey, but it certainly doesn't define her. Born prematurely and spending precious weeks in the NICU, Leah faced early challenges that shaped her path. Diagnosed with Periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), a brain injury common in very premature babies, Leah's journey took an unexpected turn, that led to cerebral palsy.
Despite these obstacles, Leah is a beacon of hope and positivity. Her infectious laughter and indomitable spirit inspire everyone she meets. With a smile that lights up the room, Leah embraces her differences, turning them into strengths that propel her forward.
On February 2, 2024, Leah underwent Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) surgery, marking a significant milestone in her quest for independence. This surgery wasn't just a medical procedure; it was a beacon of hope, promising newfound freedom and mobility.
For the next few years post-surgery, Leah finds herself immersed in intense rehabilitation sessions. These sessions, vital for unlocking the full potential of the surgery, demand dedication and perseverance. Despite the challenges, Leah approaches each session with determination, refusing to let any obstacle stand in her way.
Yet, the reality is that the resources available through the NHS are limited, leaving us with the financial costs. Therapy sessions, range from £85 to £150 per session. To ensure her continued progress, the total cost is £7,500 to cover six months, and £30,000 to cover her rehabilitation over the next two years.
We are reaching out to every compassionate individual for support. Your generosity will not only help financially, but also provide Leah with the opportunity to walk independently, a dream she's tirelessly working towards. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in Leah's life.
Having cerebral palsy does not mean she is disabled. It simply means that she is differently abled💚
