Story
The Mono Box is a vibrant, welcoming community dedicated to continuous actor training in the broadest terms. Its USP is its library of over 3000 plays donated by industry professionals and its power is its connection to leading practitioners with unique skills to offer in stage, screen, improvisation, dance, mindfulness and anything else related.
The Mono Box empowers actors in what can seem like a daunting industry. Everyone is welcome - whatever their age, background, whether they have trained or not. It is a safe space where anyone can work on their craft, make work and feel a part of something greater than themselves. By responding to the needs of the people it helps, The Mono Box is full of passion, honesty and possibility.
Over the last four years The Mono Box has:
• Welcomed over 3000 actors through its doors
• Collected a unique play library full of personal anecdotes and advice from directors, playwrights, actors and publishers
• Created a dialogue between the professional world and those who are emerging into it
• Provided a support network, a safe space and a community
ALL WITH NO FUNDING.
The organisation is now at a pivotal stage and to keep up with the demand for our facilities we need support from other theatre makers, professionals, companies and individuals who care about the future of theatre too. By choosing to support The Mono Box, we believe that your support will benefit not just The Mono Box, but also the next generation of artists in the UK.
2018 has already seen the company grow to a new level, as we continue to create affordable opportunities but also begin our bid for our own building. With donations so far we have been able to move to our own space but in order to continue developing our diverse and unique programme, to meet the demands of our members and allow maximum learning and immersion in continual training we need funding to pay the rent.
The Mono Box is committed to supporting the best of emerging British talent, to encourage our theatre landscape to grow, excite and challenge the future.
We’ve done all we can with nothing, imagine what we could do with something…
