I've raised £500 to The Memory of Alan Moralee

Dad was admitted to East Surrey Hospital in January 2020. What started with back pain and some leg swelling transpired to be an illness called Transverse Myelitis, a rare neurological condition which attacks the spine.
Not only were we hit with this news but they also discovered Dad had stage 4 kidney cancer, a massive shock to us, our world began to fall apart.
The prognosis was 5-10 years.
Dad left the hospital unable to walk, he was confined to his wheelchair.
Cancer treatment started in the form of immunotherapy.
As if this was not already enough Dad tested positive for the Corona virus in March.
In April small tumours were found in Dad's brain. He was given radiotherapy at the Royal Marsden, this treatment worked for Dad and his brain was clear.
In May, Dad was admitted to East Surrey Hospital again, he tested positive for a second time for Corona virus, turns out he did not get over it the first time- he tested positive for 11 weeks that we know of. We believe he had this for longer.
Determination & motivation got him from wheelchair to a walking frame then crutches to just a stick. He even got himself an automatic car and was driving himself and mum around locally- He really was a fighter and we couldnt have been prouder.
Dad seemed to be doing well, he was complaining of a tight chest in June. The hospital did not appear to be concerned by this. Dad would say I feel ok, if I could just breathe a bit easier, short distance walks would leave him breathless.
In September his breathing became even more difficult and he was admitted to East Surrey Hospital. His lung had filled with fluid and it collapsed. They drained the fluid and spoke about putting a more permanent solution in, he was sent home to see how he got on.
Within a week he was back in the hospital- his lung had filled again with fluid.
At this time they were still talking about getting Dad back on his cancer treatment.
Then on Tuesday 29th September we got the devastating news that Dad was simply too weak to have further treatment.
He never gave up once but it had won- On Friday 2nd October at 3.02pm Dad passed away peacefully at East Surrey Hospital with his wife, his daughters, his sister and niece with him.
We didn't get our 5-10 years but 8 months- our lovely Dad had been through so much and he was taken from us.
So unfair and so cruel, the good ones always seem to go too soon.
However, try not to be sad when you remember Dad, fondly known by many as Moras, remember him with a smile, his humor never left him and the line throughout from the man himself was "It is what it is".
In Dad's memory we are hoping to raise some funds for a more personal cause- supporting a nurse training in the UK and another in India.
There was a nurse who really stood out on Dads last stay at East Surrey. When we mentioned this to the palliative nurses they said oh yes he is amazing, make sure you tell him to do his next level of nurse training. When we questioned him, he explained it was about getting the funding and he promised he would get there eventually. His care to Dad was exceptional.
Mum and Dad met a guy called Sabu when they travelled to India 18 months ago. Sabu cried when they left, they had such a great few days of him guiding Mum and Dad , making the trip even more special. He slept in his car whilst working long days as his daughter was in nursing school. All his money went to her. Sabu messaged my mum everyday since they got back to make sure they were ok and more so when he knew Dad was poorly. We will get some funds to Sabu.
Some people are very special and touch your heart and truly make a difference, in turn we want to make a difference to them, Dad was very kind and would love this idea we know.
We have no idea what we will raise but any donation will hopefully make a difference and be something special in the name Alan Moralee.
Thank you in advance and for your kindness to our Mum Tina & ourselves

**UPDATE 30th OCT 2020**
We cannot thank you enough for your generous donations in memorial of Dad. Thank you so much for sharing.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your thoughts and those that came to stand close this week as we said our final goodbyes to Dad.
It was NOT the send off our dad deserved or what we wanted, but thank you so much for your respect to us as a family.
This page speaks volumes of our Dads popularity, we are so grateful.
Thank you all so very much
Claire, Michelle & Emma xxxx
***UPDATE 1ST NOVEMBER***
We cannot believe your amazing support. The money will make such a diiference to our nurse here in the UK moving onto their next level of Nurse training.
Sabu's daughter is in her second year of a 4 and a half year course of nurse training, we can pay funds to complete her course. Sabu has been using his earnings to fund his children's education so hasnt completed his house- Anything left over will will go to him to help with this. Alan will be over the moon to make such a difference. From Tina xx
