Weʼve raised £2,240 to help the Morecambe Bay Foodbank move home to their new building on Westminster Road in Morecambe

    Morecambe, Lancashire, United Kingdom
Funded on Saturday, 30th September 2017

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

The Morecambe Bay Foodbank has been operating out of the GYM Church on Green Street for five years but has now outgrown the space and needs to move.

A building has been found on the intersection of Westminster Road and Regent Road in Morecambe and it will enable the Foodbank to store and manage more food and to provide an even better service to the people of Morecambe Bay. It allows the Foodbank to have more space, parking, room for admin and it's more secure too. The new building will allow the team to consider extending their services to help more people.

However, the move will come with a cost and the Foodbank's increasing use means increasing costs. It's currently staffed entirely by volunteers and the odd donation so this fundraising campaign will enable them to move, get set up in their new place and operate for the first months.

Last year the Morecambe Bay Foodbank collected donations totalling over 58 tonnes of food which was distributed to 3841 recipients, 1295 of whom were children. Use of the Foodbank continues to rise so this is a vital community resource.

So, can you help to cover costs for the Foodbank by giving a donation? By getting them on their feet at their new premises they'll be able to do even more great work for our community so please consider donating! Every penny counts and helps the Foodbank to continue doing what they do.

Thanks to everyone who donates regularly, be it food, time or money. You're all amazing and the Foodbank couldn't operate without the thoughtfulness and generosity of those who support it week in, week out.

If we could get a two pound donation from everyone who likes their Facebook page then we can smash this target! Please dig deep if you can.

Wonderful work, but it should not be necessary in a rich country like ours.
