Story
Last year I travelled to Morocco to volunteer abroad. During my stay we often took donated clothes to areas far from the city and through one of the many trips I met a single mother and her 3 children living in terrible conditions.
The small, isolated room that they live, cook and sleep in is far from everything, located one hours walk away from the closest town. This is a journey that their mother must make every day to go to work to get barely enough money to feed her family.
The place they call home is crumbling and falling apart, with holes the size of tennis balls in the ceiling, letting in the rain and the harsh cold in the winter. Due to the location, they don't always have running water, with it sometimes being cut off for days, increasing their struggle greatly.
However, despite all of the difficulties they face daily, they are a very happy family, always smiling and optimistic that their situation will change if they are patient. This undying positivity and passion for life touched my heart and even after I returned to my normal life they stayed in my mind.
Having now returned to Morocco to find them in the same state, I and some friends have decided to try to gather funds to help build them a better home with the basic necessities. Any money donated will go to buying building materials like bricks and cement and to the work required to build them a safe and suitable home environment.
Thank you so much for reading and any donations would be greatly appreciated to help provide this family with a better life.
