Story
In June I travelled to the a remote village outside the town of Moroto, Karamoja, one of the most difficult regions to live in Uganda.
The environment and the desperate situations cause deadly conditions; months without a drop of rain, sunshine so strong that it cracks the earth, no crops to grow and no animals to keep. However during my time there they had been receiving torrential flooding, so much so that the main bridge into the town had collapsed, preventing any emergency UN aid from reaching the people. These extreme conditions make for an almost inhospitable environment as any crops they plant are either burned up or washed away. Many of them have nothing but their stick-walled homes.
For only £300 a house can be built to protect a family from these severe elements, providing refuge from the searing heat and stopping the rain from flowing through as they sleep.
