In late july 2017 my mother was diagnosed with a GIST ( Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumor ) following a malignant tumor removal from her brain. Things have been up and down with family life and my step father has taken on extra workload, sometimes at risk of falling ill himself just to keep the bills and living expenses ( although low ) pretty much unchanged. Today after 1 year of tests and journeys back and forth from the christie hospital in manchester the tumor has decided to grow, causing pressure in an already uncertain day to day basis.

As a son a carer and a best friend, I wish i had the means and opportunity to lower the financial burdens that come with a terminal illness.

Although sceptical about this and feeling slightly cheeky, I am hoping some good can come of this to restore family time. Giving my step dad and mum more time together and alleviating the worry that things are only getting worse. Having not to worry about potential financial issues that may arise. And if needed in the future will help pay towards treatments if necessary.

I'm pretty bad at these types of things but in general im hoping that with a lump sum savings pot its giving a small bit of independence back to a strong willed mother who means the absolute world to me.
