I've raised £5000 to support the invaluable work of children's charities Operation South America and Read For Good.

In 2016 Laura Bingham set out to raise money and awareness for Operation South America. Post trip, she continues to raise money for the charity that gives vital aid, support and refuge to vulnerable girls in South America. Her journey was over the course of five long, gruelling months where she cycled 7,000+KM across the Andes mountain range, crossing five countries – a challenge made all the more extraordinary because she used no money, instead working with communities and people along the way for food and lodging.
Last year, Laura teamed up with the award-winning illustrator Laura Wall and publishers Award Publications to create an inspiring series of children’s books to share this adventure with young readers, aiming to encourage a thirst for adventure and a passion for our world and the people within it.
The first of the five incredible adventures, 'Mountains of Dreams', launches on the 7th of July 2019 with another incredible journey – and here’s where Laura needs your help!
In a nod to Laura Bingham’s original adventure, Laura Bingham, Laura Wall, and Anna Wilkinson from Award will cycle through five counties in five days. Starting on July 7th at Laura Wall’s gallery in Teignmouth, and ending on the July 11th in Laura Bingham’s birth town of Winchester, the trio will be stopping schools along the way to speak with children and inspire them to challenge themselves, and to help them to understand that resilience, determination and a ‘can do’ approach to life can help them to achieve their dreams.
En route, they hope to raise more money both for Operation South America and Read for Good, so this is where they need your help!
Operation South America cares for vulnerable young girls in Paraguay, allowing them to live a fulfilled life and focus on their education as well as helping them to process previous traumatic events.
Read for good is an organisation that inspires children to fall in love with reading, and provides books for children's hospitals, schools and underprivileged children.
