    Story

In November 2016, my Dad passed away from a massive and avoidable heart attack. 7 weeks prior to his death he sought medical assistance for crushing chest pains and was turned away with an incorrect diagnosis based on nothing more than a hunch. Belittled and put off, my Dad never sought help again.

Therefore, to help families who have found themselves in similar situations we are raising funds for AvMA, a charity who provide legal advice and assistance to those who have been affected by lapses in patient safety.

In my Dad's youth he completed the Mourne Wall Walk, a gruelling 22 mile climb over 7 of the highest mountains in Northern Ireland. In his memory, myself and some comrades are going to attempt the same. Ambitious, we know. We are ready for intense blisters, shin splints and about 13 hours of listening to eachother complain. But for my Dad... we would do just about anything.

So proud to have a certificate to match my Dad's from 36 years ago. I am so painfully proud of him for completing the walk and I know he would be proud of me. Our goal was to raise £500 for AvMa.. and by some miracle we have wound up raising £1470. This money will help AvMa to continue providing support to families like ours who have lost the love of their lives due to someone elses mistake. And if we cant bring him back the least we do is fight for him. To everyone who donated... thank you doesnt cut it.

Two days before the world was robbed of a legend I took this photo. Had I have known this would be the last photo id ever take of my Daddy i'd have taken a thousand. I'd have squeezed him so hard and let him know how idolized he is. Losing him has killed us, and if we can stop even one more family from having to lose the love of their life then this will have all been worth it. As for the walk tomorrow - my Dad will be constantly in my thoughts and thats all the motivation I need. Thank you to EVERYONE who has donated x

Grief is an incredibly lonely experience. I always think that no one knows the pain I'm in because no one has ever loved someone as intensely as I love my Dad. But looking at all of the messages on this just giving page and the amount we've manager to raise is just such a clear testament to how well thought of my Dad still is to this day. Thank you all so so much.
