Story

The 36-year-old, who has played centre half for Blackpool FC, Morecambe, Altrincham, Leyland Town, Kendal, and home team Coppull, was diagnosed with the life-limiting condition last month after first noticing symptoms a year ago.

Now he is determined to raise money for a cure, to play with his children, and to be well enough to walk down the aisle this summer to marry his fiancée Nicola Kendall.

In order to show our support to such a brave and inspiring guy, loved by many, we are going to be hosting a sponsored walk event. Due to restrictions of Covid, we can’t do this together. We CAN though, obtain sponsorship and ‘move a mile for George!’ in our own time and at our own pace. We could even do a few miles to help meet the target.

Our target is to walk, run, cycle, skip, hop or crawl 603 miles. I’m confident we could smash this but let’s just see how far we can go, together. This is the equivalent of walking the length of the country. The sponsorship money will go directly to supporting George and his family to ensure his dreams do come true.

We will be looking to complete the journey of 603 miles throughout March with the aim of all sponsorship money being collected by the 31 /03/2021. A Just Giving page will also be set up to support this cause.

The final event to help raise money will be the Easter Indulge Eggstravaganza. This will include (restrictions permitting) a community fun day @Ingol CP School with egg hunts, games and a cash prize 5-a-side football competition.

Sponsorship forms can be emailed out directly by emailing head@ingol.lancs.sch.uk , from Ingol CP school office or by contacting Beat103 radio. George and his family will be broadcasting on Ingol Beat on 27th Feb on Beat103.
