I'm raising £2000 to Help Our Good Friend Mick Get to Germany

Organised by Mow Lads Killer Mile

Story

Mick (55) originally from Mow Cop and Lisa Jepson, along with their three children, live in the small village of Cannich, Inverness. Mick is a family man and a well loved and respected member of the local community.

Unfortunately, after a brief period of feeling unwell, he was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he underwent an Intensive 8 hour operation to remove a cyst and tumour from his brain which were then sent for biopsy.

Sadly, the biopsy results brought the worst possible news: Stage 4 Glioblastoma—an aggressive and deadly form of brain cancer.

Mick has now completed 60 rounds of combined radio and chemotherapy and a further 6 months of chemotherapy 5/23. This has brought many unpleasant side effects but a severe seizure in November resulted in Mick being rushed to hospital where he became very poorly and spent 5 days in ICU on life support.

In February 2026 Mick was able to travel to a private hospital in London where a second tumour was removed (the NHS deemed this inoperable). This was made possible via fundraising and generous donations of friends and family in the highlands and locally.

Mick is a warrior, a gent and a true hero. He has remained unbelievably strong and positive, facing this unimaginable diagnosis with courage and grace.

Mick has recovered amazingly well however we now have to consider treatment going forward, sadly the UK is very limited on treatment and 2nd line chemo Lomustine is all they are offering. This treatment is extremely taxing on the body and comes with no guarantees that it will even target his cancer.

The next step is to try and raise further funds so Mick can travel to Germany where they lead the way on Glioblastoma treatments. There he can be offered a vaccine which would be tailored to his tumour markers. This comes with little to no impact on his quality of life.

Mick has been through so much. He is a true Mow Lad through and through and because of that his Mow friends (Thomas Copeland, Trevor Copeland, John Davies, David Lythall and Shaun Bates) have chosen to take on the Mow Cop Killer Mile and raise as much money as they can to try and get Mick to Germany for this life saving treatment. For anyone that knows them this is no easy task!

Any donation would be gratefully appreciated (no matter how small it all helps this worthy case)
