My name is David Smith and I am 35 years old i am originally from Kent but have been fortunate enough throughtout my life to have been able to touch and be part of various peoples lives and journeys whether it has been myself moving around from different cities, palces due to fidning work or because of personal reasons.

I decided to settle in Brighton about 5 months ago moving from Blackpool, Lancashire after 2 very turbulant and emotionaly draining years, i am now working for a hair and beauty salon in Hove and Brighton and things are going along nicely with stable accomodation and so forth but i would have to say it is not enough for me and I beleive my purpose in life is helping others and im asking for help in achieivning and enabling me to start up a venture I have been thinking and looking into for the past few years.

I would love to create with the help of others a one stop empowerment & resource centre/ environment for people from all walks of life, Ideally i would the place to cater from emotional to the physical where the people could drop in , it would be a relaxed friendly and non conformist environment and we would be able to offer resources and assitance in whatever problem or situation they feel would move their lives forward in a postive motion. whether it be through the use of workshops, guest speakers, guidance, in the case of the physical like i said i work in the hair and beauty industry and would be able with help offer a space within the one stop resource where people would be able maybe get a new style hair or beauty treatment to feel better or get in touch with a clothes stylist to get advice or a new wardrobe etc whatever the physical or emotional the space would be able to assist and help in some way whichout prejudiced or judgement.

So whether it be holding workshops for newly divorced singles or helping someone just feel body confident or offer someone some guidance and encouragement through a dark time im looking to rent a start up small area at first like a pop up shop and bustle up interest and let people know about our service.inside the space i would love to be able offer catering faciltites like a coffee bar so people would be able to meet up relax and everything can be discussed in relaxed friendly environment .

In a nutshell i would love it to be a people empowerment drop in cafe

From what i have seen in Brighton and Hove and many other parts of the country I havent really come accross a one stop people empowerment shop in ant town or city i have visited and believe it could be a positve and benefical venture and place.

When i was 18 yrs and my father passed away from bowel cancer and to be honest i never was given or offered the right support in how to cope and deal with the situation and the aftermath of his passing maybe if a place or service which i am describing was available or around at the time i believe things would have been seemed easier or maybe i would have felt more supported or had options of how best to cope with what had happended and im sure many people have felt and experienced the same

it would be so wonderful if i could get this project off the ground and be able to help others in life in ways i have been helped and i know from speaking to colleagues and friends in the area the place i would love to create would warmly recieved and people are already offering me their time and services and i think it would help give the public not only support and a boost maybe in time of need but also empowering communites and beyond in other citites or town which would be the dream to have lots o these shops pop up empowerment cafes dotted all over country.
