Story

My mam; Mrs Crompton/Miss Wilshaw as she is known to most, was a dedicated teacher at Hylton Redhouse Comprehensive & Academy for 40 years
As many will agree, she had a huge impact on not only the students but also the members of staff
October 2014 after a tough year my mam decided to hand in her notice for retirement
November 2014 my mam hurt her shoulder trying to get the dogs ball. Thinking she'd just pulled a muscle she iced it & took some tablets. The following morning she asked if i would take her to A&E as her shoulder was still sore & swolen
X-rays were done & she was advised there were signs of arthritis & advised to contact the G.P to request further scans. Before contacting the G.P a letter arrived for her to attend an m.r.i scan which she attended & heard nothing more
Easter 2015
My mam had felt unwell for quite a while so visited the G.P. Whilst there she asked if they had the M.R.I report. They had no information that she'd had an M.R.I let alone the report. The G.P phoned the radiology department to be advised the report had been sat on a dr's desk since 31st December & nothing had been done. The first few lines read "Paget's disease / Bone Cancer"
The next few months were rough. Multiple appointments. Scans. Biopsies. And finally the news we had all feared. My mams breast cancer that we believed she been all clear of for over 10 years was never cured. She was diagnosed with Secondary breast cancer throughout her bones which is incureable. She underwent an operation to insert a metal rod into her femur to secure it as it was so diseased
Her retirement was ruined
July 2017 we found out the medication my mam had been taking was no longer effective and it had spread to her liver. She started oral chemo but this wasn't effective either
May 2018 she started I.V Chemo which sadly has also been ineffective. The cancer has continued to grow & spread to her brain
I am hoping to raise enough money to take her on holiday before her health deteriorates more
