I've raised £500 to help fund school equipment at Mtwapa Academy in Kenya and fund non-kerosene lamps for community homes.

Mtwapa academy is a Kenyan primary school in Mtwapa, near Mombassa, Kenya. Many of the children that attend struggle to pay school fees (education isn't fee in Kenya), but unlike other schools in the area, these children are not turned away - this sometimes means that the teachers have to go without and the building doesn't get maintained.
Over the past few years we have raised money to flatten the playground to make it safer and have provided new classroom furniture to replace the broken tables and chairs, one classroom at a time.
We have also recently been in contact with a local business that makes gravity lamps - to replace kerosene in the students homes that don't have electricity - these cost around £25 each but would improve the health of the students currently using kerosene to do their homework and other household tasks.
We will be travelling to Kenya in April and all money raised will go towards the school or the wider community. (No money raised will go towards travelling, food, accomodation or any other personal costs.
To raise money I will be doing the following events:
1. 50th Parkrun - Three-legged lap of honour. 19th August 2017
2. Rutland Night Swim - Aiming for 3K. 2nd September 2017
3. Leicester 10K - Aiming for 1 hour 5 minutes. 3rd September (12 hours after the Rutland Night Swim!)
Plus other events to be added as the year goes on!
PIcture: New school tables being made locally to the school.
Task 1 complete: The finish line of 5K three-legged on Satureday 19th August.
