Story
We are a small band of volunteers who run Muhoroni People’s Fund, a small charity which supports vulnerable women and their children in a rural town in western Kenya. We have set up a basket-weaving workshop, to give the women - many of them single mothers and young widows - employment and stability for them and their children. We also fund their healthcare (nothing is free in Kenya!) and pay their children‘s school fees, to try to break the cycle of poverty caused by lack of education.
This Christmas we are raising money to buy gift parcels for the vulnerable families that we support in Muhoroni. The parcels contain a few everyday needs - cooking oil and washing soap, plus beans, rice, tea and sugar - enough to last a few days. Every penny raised will go directly to help a struggling family.
£5 will buy a Christmas essentials gift parcel, and £20 will fund a term of education for a secondary schoolchild. We are grateful for anything that anyone can afford to give! Many thanks in advance for your generosity.
