Story
Thank you for visiting our page! We need your help to raise as much as we can for TWO charities, The SHINE Fund (CNTW NHS Foundation Trust) and Brain Tumour Research. Every donation really helps!
Our multi-challenge
On Sunday September 3rd 2023 at 9am Dr Mohammed Elhamshari and myself will start our long distance cycle from Grey's Monument in Newcastle to Blackheath in South East London. We aim to complete this in three days and arrive by Tuesday 5th September at 21:00.
Dr Elhamshari will return to Newcastle and give his energy to the world famous Great North Run. What an achievement! More details can be found here:
Greatrun.org
On 6th September I will continue with a tour company called Discover Adventure. They will carry my luggage and fuel my ride. If you would like further information:
https://www.discoveradventure.com/challenges/london-to-nice-cycle
I continue from Blackheath, London on Wednesday 6th September to Paris, then down to Geneva, over the Alps and dropping into Nice, Southern France arriving on Tuesday 19th September.
All finished! I might have the opportunity to see a little bit of Nice before returning to the UK.
Finally, we’d like to invite you to Snod’s Community Hall, Consett at the end of September to celebrate the event and we’d love it if you can join us for a charity evening. Details will be posted on our social media sites soon.
About the charities we are supporting:
CNTW NHS Shine Fund
https://www.cntw.nhs.uk/about/charitable-funds/what-we-do/
"SHINE stands for Support, Hope, Inspire, Nurture and Empower. Since being established in 2014 the SHINE fund has supported service users with everything from horse-riding outings to gardening tools, summer activities for young people, and even Christmas decorations for our wards.
The funding from SHINE does not replace the money used to fund care. Instead, it helps to provide ‘little extras’ – therapeutic activities or items of comfort to assist with people’s care, treatment or rehabilitation, generally helping towards them living a happier, fuller life."
We chose SHINE because we can see the big difference it makes to service users. We need this to continue!
BRAIN TUMOUR RESEARCH
https://www.braintumourresearch.org/
"Brain tumours are indiscriminate; they can affect anyone at any age. What’s more, they kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer... yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease."
We have chosen this charity as we know people who have been affected directly or indirectly through cancer. Let's raise money to try and find a cure for brain tumours.
Have you seen The Biking Vikings North East? Why not come and see us? We have several events throughout the year across the region raising money for Brain Tumour Research. Join our Facebook page for updates.
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Crowdfunding means that we can distribute the donations equally to both charities.
This trip is entirely self-funded and not through crowdfunding.
