Story
Hi, my name is Laura 🩷
I’m asking for help for someone very special in our small Isle of Man community Ms Monika Świątek, a wonderful local teacher and inclusive education advocate.
She runs a small homeschool and tutoring space for children of all ages and needs. For over 30years, she has dedicated her life to supporting children - especially those with additional needs, including autism, aphasia, cerebral palsy, dyslexia and other developmental challenges.
After recent fire, her home and teaching space were devastated by thick smoke and soot. Although the flames were limited, the damage caused by smoke destroyed thousands of handmade teaching aids, books, sensory materials and essential lessons supplies built over three decades.
Many of the families she helps cannot afford private tutoring. She often provides lessons for free or for only symbolic contributions. This loss affects not only her, but the many children who rely on her long-term care and guidance.
This is more than property damage. It is the loss of a safe place where children receive vital support, learn, grow, and feel supported.
She is currently displaced and trying to rebuild from almost nothing. We want to help her replace essential classroom and teaching materials and restart lessons as quickly as possible, so children can continue receiving the support they need.
