I've raised £1000 to help support the relief effort in Beirut, Lebanon following the explosion there which has led to a developing immense humanitarian disaster.

To support the relief effort, our club members are aiming to raise money by collectively cycling the distance from Manchester to Beirut over 10 days from the 12th - 22nd August, tracking the lengths of rides around our respective home locations. The money raised will be passed on to Impact Lebanon's disaster relief fund.
August 4th's blast at the port of Beirut claimed over 150 lives, injured more than 5,000 people and has left 300,000 homeless. The damage spread far and wide, destroying homes and vital infrastructure such as hospitals in the midst of a pandemic when they are needed more than ever. Lebanon is a country already struggling economically, so Beirut and its people must rely on the generosity of the global community to provide funds and aid to the organisations who are able to help.
Impact Lebanon are an initiative forwarding funds to NGOs (non-governmental organisations) such including the Lebanese Red Cross amongst many others who are providing medical aid, shelter and other support to those who need it most. The recipient NGOs are being thoroughly vetted and fund allocation is being presented transparently to ensure funds end up in the correct hands. At Manchester University Men's Hockey Club, we thoroughly care about this cause and want to raise as much money as possible through this challenge. Please donate if you can.
