Can you contribute £1, 1€, or $1 to help me to send my dog, Murdo on a three week, specialised training school for reactive dogs? Murdo is a whippet. He will be 3 in February. He is a beautiful dog and super friendly and loving with humans and most dogs. He is my lifeline and has helped me to improve my mental health. However, when Murdo was 9 months old he was attacked by a German Shepherd who sadly had a particularly nasty owner. As a result of the attack, Murdo sustained a foot long scar along his midriff and only his speed and agility saved him. After this traumatic event he was reactive with other dogs. I spent the following year intensively using love and counter-conditioning to persuade him that he didn’t need to be so terrified and reactive with his fellow hounds, and he has come on leaps and bounds. However, he cannot budge that fear of large dogs, which is proving to be a big problem as he lunges and becomes difficult to manage. I know that his apparent aggression is linked to an imprinted fear response. However, I don’t know what to do beyond what I have learned so far. I have found a residential training school for reactive dogs but it is too expensive for me. The cost is £755. I just don’t have that. I have raised £45 so far via PayPal. But not everyone uses that method. So, I have set up this page. I wonder if people here might be willing and able to chip in £1, 1€, $1 or whatever you can to help me make the training a reality and give Murdo the chance he needs to come to terms with his fear? I know it is cheeky to ask but I literally don’t know what to do so I thought I would put the proposal out there. Thanks for your time and consideration. Thanks for listening.
