I've raised £1000 to raise much needed funds for orphan children and families with disabilities for Christmas in Latvia, Kraslava.

Christmas is seen as the most stressful and difficult time of the year, however for most of us this is not the case as we have stable jobs, loving families and a system that helps us in our times of need.
Kraslava is my home town where I grew up, where unfortunately the infrastructure does not provide well for the families in need, orphan children or disabled individuals.
Unfortunately in Latvia lack of funds and charities which help people in need is not as prevalent as in the UK. This is partially due to the fact, that many families are struggling to pay the bills and cannot dedicate the funds to help others.
If we can extend some love and warmth to others in need when we have so much, then isn't that the little we can do.
The thought of raising some money was following a conversation on not buying presents for our children this Christmas, that might sound drastic, but they obtain so much from family & friends that they forget what they are given & the essence of what Christmas is really about is lost. We live in a world that is drowned by commercialism and lose what is important, also what are we teaching our children?
Your donation will make a HUGE difference and make one of these children smile this Christmas.
To give you an idea of the children we hope to help, there are 40 children impacted - 18 under 6 years old & 22 over 6 & under the age of 18.
We are trying to collect as much money as possible to make this Christmas special for those children in need by liaising with the social worker of "Musmajas" and a Board member of Family support centre "Atvertiba" (a registered charity).
Results of this fundraising activity will be communicated to all who have donated, for this reason do state your name and surname, so we can get in touch and share the joy with you!
Thank you so much!
Merry Christmas!! xx
