My father Serge, 53 decided to go to Belgium at the beginning of October 2016 to get the job and earn some money, as there was no opportunities back in Latvia.

On 21st of October late evening I received a call from his colleague that he is at intensive care at Sint-Niklaas hospital in a terrible condition. I have asked to arrange the video call and I was shocked to see my father.. he could not talk, I was only praying that it should not be a stroke like his dad had 15 years ago and as a result his body was paralyzed for 10 years until his death.

I live in London, but it did not stop me to go Belgium that night to see my dad. I have been at the hospital at 5am in the morning. He was connected to the multiple pipes and wires that were helping him to survive...brief, etc... I was with him for about 1 hour and had to go, as was not allowed to stay, but got back late afternoon at 14:45 the visit time.

I came back to London the same day, as my dad told me that he feels much better, he is being looked after and that I have to go to my family and need to take care of my wife and 2 sons : 23 months old and little one 6 weeks old.

He was in intensive care from 21st of October - 31st of October, after numerous tests doctors found pneumonia, urine tract infection, heart attack ( could not tell whether it was recent or old )... on 31st of October he was transferred to the regular care.

I talked to him on 30th of October, his mom talked to him yesterday and he was alright and happy with everything...

Today 1st of November at 18:56 I go the text from his colleague "Your Dad Passed Away" ....

Whoever got this message will understand my feelings. At once everything stops for quite a few moments and you are not the same again, as you lost something completely...

Currently I am trying to organise the transportation service my dads body from hospital in Belgium back to Latvia and organise the funeral and I am asking for your help.
