Story

We are looking to raise in excess of £3,000 to help provide aid and support for children affected by the earthquake in Myanmar. Please help with a donation if you can and also share as widely as possible.

Working alongside a few small charities such as the SmileFoundation, we are putting together packages with food/medical/clothing supplies to be sent to the worst affected schools/hospitals/orphanages and arranging a team of volunteers to support local children's organisations in the worst affected regions. Many children sadly lost their lives. Many have been left injured, homeless or without their parents as a consequence of one of the worst natural disasters ever seen in the region and are in great need of support.

On March 28th, a devastatingly destructive earthquake hit Myanmar resulting in over 4,000 confirmed deaths. In actuality this is likely to be many times higher as bodies are still being recovered daily.

With similar natural disasters, the USA has previously led the immediate international response especially within the "critical rescue period" where lives could be saved. Unfortunately this was diminished and delayed due to recent political decisions and the devastating situation is being made worse with the threat of tariffs applied to exports to the USA from Myanmar. Luckily other neighbouring countries sent rescue teams to assist the UN in humanitarian efforts so many lives were saved.

Myanmar is a particularly poor and troubled country having experienced vast political and economic turmoil in recent years. Almost 60% of the under 16 population live in poverty with many having died or suffered life changing injuries. Many have seen loved ones die and their homes destroyed, putting enormous pressure on already strained medical and support services.

Millions of lives have been impacted and the recovery will take many years. Any help you can give is very much appreciated and no donation is too small. Hopefully over time the beautiful country of Myanmar can be restored to something resembling it's former self.
