Me and my Oligo

In September 2019 I was given the shocking diagnosis that I have a Grade 3 brain tumour. Since then I have undergone several rounds of radiotherapy and chemo - and throughout it all have stayed active and fit, even riding my bike on the 75km round trip to the hospital for my chemo and radiotherapy sessions.

Me and my family have undertaken numerous challenges to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity and the Lewis Moody Foundation including, after my 17th bout of chemo, the undertaking of a non-stop 24-hour challenge to cycle up and down Box Hill 76 times - the equivalent of cycling up to the top of Mount Everest an astounding 8907m!

My next challenge is taking me to Germany for alternative treatment that can perhaps treat this yet incurable disease. I'm planning on riding the 1000km to a private clinic that specializes in gene analysis. This treatment can ascertain which immunotherapy drugs may assist my treatment, whilst creating a vaccine that will teach my immune system to attack and eliminate cancer cells. Still very new and highly experimental the treatment will cost £50,000 + expenses.

Brain cancer is one of the most underfunded and under-researched cancers - survival rates are just 11% and it is the biggest cancer killer of under 40’s.

Working with D&G Group we aim to create a Foundation that will help support, raise awareness and fund further research for brain cancer and other hard-to-treat cancers.
